Bio
I'm a hippy chick with dreadlocks, piercings and tattoos, and a passion for all things to do with natural living. I love to play the djembe and grow organic fruit and veg (although not at the same time) and have a dream of one day living a simple, self-sufficient lifestyle within a community of others doing the same. How successful I'll be at achieving this remains to be seen!

I'm a Doula (birth assistant), and feel truly honoured when I am invited to be with a birthing woman or partnership, supporting the mother to be (and her partner) in whatever ways she needs to have a positive birth experience that is truly memorable, for all the right reasons. I am an advocate of instinctive, natural birthing, and of birth being promoted and celebrated as a beautiful event that happens most easily when not compromised by fear, constant monitoring and pressure to adhere to arbitary time constraints. You can visit my doula web site here. In relation to this I am also an affiliate of Spirit of Nature, an ethical company that sell organic cotton baby clothes, washable and biodegradable disposable nappies and beautiful wooden toys.

Over the last several years I've been developing my skills in various holistic and complimentary therapies including Indian Head Massage, herbal medicine, Bach Flower Remedies and Tissue Salts among others.

I'm bi and generally very involved with the UK Bi Community. I'm one of the co-founders of Birmingham Bi Women and have done a stint at organising a Bicon in 2004.

I consider myself to be a spiritual person in a predominantly pagan kind of way, and I'm involved in a shamanic women's circle in the West Midlands called Kuramengro Drom. I also practice Vipassana meditation and enjoy spendiing time at the Dhamma Dipa, my local meditation centre.

I also paint, and the number of commissions coming in is gradually increasing, which is great for my motivation and self-esteem. Painting in many ways is a spiritual journey for me, and I love it. Examples of my painting, and other art and design work can be found on my art site.

My main partner and I have lived in Birmingham since 2002 and since then we've transformed our suburban back garden into an organic veggie growing heaven. Although we don't have enough space to be self sufficient with our fruit or veg we do as much as we can with the limited space, and love cooking up our produce for dinner guests. After several years of trying we finally conceived in January 2007 with the help of a known sperm donor. Our baby is due in October 2007. As a result our garden has been a little less productive this year as we've been engaging our growing energies in other areas.

When I'm menstruating I'm also a user and huge fan of the mooncup. If you're a menstruating woman, then you definitely ought to check these out. I also make my own washable pads for those days when I need them, so I'm not in any way reliant on manufactured, disposable menstrual products. You can find a pattern to make your own here.

My journal is a mixture of public and friends-only posts. Feel free to come along for the ride. It shouldn't be too traumatic.
